NEWS

It is with great sadness we learnt that Scarlett Mackinnon, who was an active member of the RDA for 10 years, passed away on the 28th June 2022, 4 days before her 16th Birthday. Many of us taught or led her on a Monday over the many years. Whilst this is very sad her parents want her life to be celebrated as she surpassed all expectations and beyond over the years..
We share some of the family’s tributes to Scarlet..
“ Scarlett was an absolute thrill seeker and adventurer. Her sense of humour was wicked and full of sarcasm, which would have us in stitches countless times.
She would be the first to climb the highest tree or climbing frame, demand to go on the most dangerous ride at the fun park over and over again….., roaring with laughter continuously while doing it.
As with us all in the family Scarlett loved sport and couldn’t wait for the next opportunity to go Horse Riding at the RDA, a bike ride or sports day at school which she longed for all year!
A favourite sports memory of her was when we all participated in the Special Olympics 3K run around Green Park, finishing outside Buckingham Palace.
Scarlett was front row in her wheel chair at the start and holding court with me behind her unsurprisingly to many of you…, physiqued & determined to get us home in first place!
Sir Mo Fara was saying hello to the front and Scarlett was next in line. As he went to shake her hand She sneezed, she then dragged him in close, wiped her nose on his hand and then gave him a massive Scarlett cuddle with roaring laughter!
Thankfully Sir Mo found it equally as hysterical!
RIP Scarlett Elizabeth Penelope MacKinnon

It is with deep sadness that we at Cobbes Meadow Riding for the Disabled mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.
Our sympathies are with Her Majesty’s family, and the whole country, at this sad time.
We are all hugely grateful for Her Majesty’s life of national service, and for her generous support for charities and for her love of horses. We offer our sincere condolences to Her Majesty’s family.
We will be joining the nation in acknowledging the Queen’s state funeral on M…

Ingrid

It with great sadness that we have to share the news that our beloved RDA pony Ingrid has passed.  Ingrid was a Fjord - a Norwegian breed who shared many happy times for over 30 years at the RDA Cobbes Meadow.

Ingrid will be sorely missed but we are lucky enough to be able to look back on the many happy memories we shared.  Thank you Ingrid for all you gave and shared with all at Cobbes Meadow.  Ingrid RIP ❤️

Cobbes Meadow 'Welcome Back'

Our riders very much enjoyed their 'Welcome Back' with the opportunity to ride after such a long break.  With the commitment of our volunteers we managed a limited return with two sessions this week governed by Covid guidelines.
