Riding Volunteer
Our riding days include a variety of roles from walking next to the ponies, fitting riding hats and engaging with participants.

Please refer to our riding and driving with us page for additional information and timings of each day.
On the day
Volunteers drive the lorry and collect the ponies from where they live. Volunteers start the day by getting ponies groomed, setting up obstacles and games in the school and ensuring the centre is tidy, ready to welcome everyone.

Volunteers welcome the participants, their familes and careers. Some volunteers lead the ponies into the arena and warm them up ready for participants to mount. Other volunteers check in the participants and help them find the appropriate riding equipment.

Whilst riding there are usually three volunteers per pony, one who leads the pony and two sidewalkers.

The day is always varied and there are lots of opportunities to get involved in different ways in which you are comfortable. All training is provided.

You are welcome to attend a taster session. If you agree to volunteer we ask you to commit to one session per week during term time.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. If you are under 16, we ask that a parent accompanies you. We are always pleased to hear from prospective volunteers, so please get in touch if you are interested in lending a hand.
