Meet the ponies

Our ponies at Cobbes Meadow RDA have been specially selected to provide excellent equine activities for everyone. With our dedicated volunteers, riders and drivers can feel confident and relaxed while learning. Allow us to introduce you to our equine family.

Dido

Dido is a 14.2hh Grey Connemara mare owned by Caroline Clarke. Dido is a firm favourite with our children and young adults and has been a stalwart at Cobbes Meadow for many years. Dido really enjoys doing dressage competitions.

Muppy

Muppy is best friends with Dido and is a 13.1hh chesnut mare, owned by Catherine McCully. Muppy is a very experienced pony and is greatly loved by our younger riders. Muppy has been there, seen it all and got the t-shirt.

Poppy

Poppy is a 14.2hh black and white (piebald) mare. Poppy is owned by Cobbes Meadow and lives locally in Chartham. Poppy has one blue eye and one brown eye. She loves cuddles, having a bath and coming into her stable at night.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg arrived at Cobbes Meadow from Chillham Castle and we often call her Princess Nutmeg. She is an appaloosa (grey spotty) mare and can be very cheeky. She always makes sure she gets to eat the hay first and is in charge of all the other ponies she lives with.

Billy

Billy is a 15.2hh black and white (piebald) gelding. Billy is owned by Cobbes Meadow and lives locally in Chartham. Billy is a new pony and has quickly become part of the team. He loves to play games with any object he finds.

Tuppence

Tuppence is a 13.2hh black and white (piebald) gelding. He is owned by Cobbes Meadow and lives locally in Chartham. Tuppence has visited Cobbes Meadow in the past and now is officially part of the team. He is very quiet, gentle and sweet.

Ralph

Ralph a.k.a Wreck It Ralph is a 15.2hh bay gelding. He is owned by Cobbes Meadow and lives locally in Chartham. He is a soft, gentle giant who is often up to mischief and is ridden by our adult riders. He has the biggest feet you have ever seen.

Noggin

Noggin is a bay gelding, currently on loan to Cobbes Meadow. He is a fast forward going ride and is ridden by our adults.

Jessie

Jessie is a black mare owned by Julie Aldrige. She is a forward going ride ridden by our adults. She likes to wobble her bottom lip, which makes everyone laugh. She tries really hard at new tasks, but is terrified of teddies.

Rupert

Rupert is a 15.1 skewbald cob and is owned by Hazel Leng. He loves his food and going for hacks around the woods and fields we have at RDA. In his younger years he competed in dressage and showing and did very well.

Charlie

Charlie is a 14.1hh black Fell pony used on Friday for carriage driving. He is owned by Miranda Purves and he is very good at adjusting to our riders. He enjoys a carrot or apple and a good roll in the field after sessions.

Django

Django is a 13.2hh black Fell pony used on Friday for carriage driving. He is owned by Teresa Whitehead and is a very reliable member of the team. Django is kind, friendly and enjoys meeting everyone at RDA.

Duke

Duke is a 13.1hh black Fell pony used on Friday for carriage driving. He is owned by Teresa Whitehead and has a quirky personality. He enjoys going super speedy around the cones course.
